Parched Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
Effective date: 1 November 2026
Last updated: 2 November 2026
Policy version: 2026-11-01
This policy covers "consumer health data" as Washington's My Health My Data Act, Nevada's consumer health data law (NRS 603A.400 to 603A.550) and Connecticut's Data Privacy Act define it. Parched is operated by an individual developer based in the Philippines, who publishes it through an Apple Developer Program individual account and a Google Play developer account (support@appsbynikki.com); the developer's legal name is the Seller shown on Parched's App Store page and the name in the developer contact details on Parched's Google Play page. Our full Privacy Policy is at https://www.appsbynikki.com/parched/privacy.
1. What consumer health data we collect, and how we use it
We treat the following as consumer health data:
- the drinks you log: the amount, the time, your calendar day and time zone, and where each drink was logged from, including drinks you delete, which we keep marked as deleted until you delete your account;
- your daily goal, which is saved with your profile when your account is created, because the app needs a goal to work;
- what we work out from your drinks: daily and monthly totals, whether you met your goal, your first, last and largest drink, how your drinks spread across the day, badges, and your challenge entries and results.
We use it only to:
(a) record your drinks and show your progress, History, badges, widgets and watch apps;
(b) run the groups you choose to join or own: showing members your progress, sending them drink alerts, and running nudges and challenges;
(c) write your drinks to Apple Health or Health Connect on your phone, if you turn sync on;
(d) keep Parched secure and working; and
(e) comply with the law.
We don't use it for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't use it to train AI models.
Goal calculator. If you use Personalise your goal, your answers (sex, age, weight, pregnancy or breastfeeding, activity and climate) are used on your phone and are never sent to us. Only the goal you choose to save reaches our servers, and that goal may reflect your answers.
2. Where it comes from
From you, through the Parched app, its widgets and the Parched apps for Apple Watch and Wear OS. Parched never reads data from Apple Health or Health Connect.
3. When it is saved
A drink is saved to your account when you log it, in the app, on a widget or on a watch. Your daily goal is saved when your account is created, because the app can't work without a goal. We treat both as consumer health data from the start (Privacy Policy §5).
Sharing with a group is a separate agreement. Before you join a group, the Join with a code sheet says: "Joining is always free. By sending a code you agree to share your name, avatar, goal and time zone with the group's owner and, once you're in, today's total and last drink with its members." Sending the code is your agreement to that sharing. Turning on Apple Health or Health Connect sync is a separate choice too.
4. Who receives it
- Members of groups you join or own see your daily goal, time zone, today's total and the time and size of your last drink, receive drink alerts such as "Sam logged 250 mL", and see challenge entries and results (Privacy Policy §7). Results of finished challenges stay in that group's history until the group ends.
- Apple Health or Health Connect on your phone, if you turn sync on. That copy is then under your control.
- Our service providers, which process it for us under contract: Google (Firebase and Google Cloud: storage, server code, notification delivery and backups; https://policies.google.com/privacy), Apple (notification delivery to iPhones; https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/), and Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry: crash reports, which contain no consumer health data; https://sentry.io/privacy/).
- Authorities, only when the law requires it.
We have no affiliates. We do not sell consumer health data. If you ask, we give you a list of every third party and affiliate with whom we've shared your consumer health data, with their contact details.
5. How we process it
It is stored and processed in the United States (Google's us-west1 region, Oregon), and accessed by the operator from the Philippines only to run, secure and support Parched. Crash reports are stored in Germany. Access is restricted to the operator and to our service providers' systems, as the Privacy Policy describes. Parched doesn't collect your precise location and doesn't use geofencing.
6. Tracking
No other company collects consumer health data about you over time or across other apps or websites through Parched.
7. Your rights
You can:
- confirm whether we collect, share or sell your consumer health data, get a copy of it, and get the list of third parties and affiliates with whom we've shared it, with their contact details;
- limit what we hold and share: delete drinks (today's and yesterday's in the app; email us for older ones), turn off Apple Health or Health Connect sync, leave the groups you've joined, or delete your account to remove it all. If you own a group, you can't leave it: remove its members in Manage group, or delete your account, to stop sharing with them;
- delete your consumer health data: delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account), or email us. We delete it from our live systems, and copies leave Google's backups within about 180 days. Crash reports contain no consumer health data. Results of finished challenges in other people's groups keep your name until that group ends unless you ask us to remove it, which we will do;
- correct it: change your daily goal in the app, change today's and yesterday's drinks, or email us for anything else.
To make a request, email support@appsbynikki.com from the email address of the Apple or Google account you use with Parched (we confirm requests through that address), or use the tools in the app. We respond within 45 days of receiving your request; if we need up to 45 more days, we tell you why within the first 45. Requests are free.
Appeals. If we refuse your request, you can appeal by emailing support@appsbynikki.com with "Appeal" in the subject line. We decide within 45 days and explain our decision in writing. If we still refuse, you can complain to the Washington Attorney General (https://www.atg.wa.gov/file-complaint), the Nevada Attorney General (https://ag.nv.gov/Complaints/File_Complaint/) or the Connecticut Attorney General (https://portal.ct.gov/ag).
8. Changes
If we change this policy, we update the "Last updated" date and tell you in the app or by email before a material change takes effect. We ask for your consent before collecting new kinds of consumer health data or using it for a new purpose.
